Computer wont boot after bios battery was removed and reinstalled

Hi
i just finished setting up a second hand computer for my cousin,
its specs are:

e7200 C2D intel
asrock 4core 1333 esata2
2048mb 800mhz ram
geforce 9600gt 512mb
seagate 500gb sata

When i got the computer i realized that the bios was password protected, and called the previous owner to get it but he didint know,
i then put that problem on hold.. which i probably shouldnt have and continued to set up windows xp,
fully update it and install some games and nessesary programs for this computer to run properly.
and just when i was about to take the computer to my cousin i remembered the bios problem and decided it would be better if i fixed it straight away,
i googled a solution which seemed legit and proceeded to remove the bios battery for a couple of minutes and then installed it again.

Now when i turn on the computer it boots normal i can open the bios settings and in there i can see the seagate 500gb sata hdd,
but when i try to boot xp it brings up the option of choosing safe mode, w/networking w/command prompt,
last known good configuration, or start windows normally, no matter what i do it displays the xp logo for a sec and then flashes BSOD before restarting and the same thing happens.
I tried inserting the xp setup cd and went into the setup in dos, it tells me that no hdd can be found.

It is strange that the bios finds the hdd but windows setup does´nt

Any help will be very appreciated. i just hope i havent ruined something in my little cousins computer before he even got to use it

Re: Computer wont boot after bios battery was removed and reinstalled

I would guess you wiped the SATA drivers from the BIOS.

When you install XP on a SATA hard drive you need to load the motherboard drivers via the F6 option.

I'd suggest reinstalling but you need to press F6 when prompted and load the SATA drivers.
